Curious: What languages can people actually speak?
I studied German for three years in High School. In Ghana, I took a course in Twi but oddly, that doesn't seem to be a popular suggestion at Stevie Ray's! When I was a kid I lived in China for a year so I learned about eight phrases in Mandarin Chinese such as "I don't understand you."

I learned to speak Spanish while serving my country valiantly in the U.S. Peace Corps. I'm not fluent. I understand what is said to me better than I speak it. Imagine Tarzan speaking Spanish... that's me.
I also know some German. My Great-Grandma Ella taught me quite a few phrases. Which made watching Hogan's Heroes that much better!
I also have a PHD in Pig Latin...
"Osay Erethay Ouyay Ave-it-hay!"
I can barely speak American English.
This deaf woman used to work at my office and we ended up sitting next to eachother and becoming rather close. By the time she quit I was able to keep up in full conversations with her. A few months have now past and we recently had lunch together. I was ok. I was slow at reading her spelling (which she would use when I didn't know the sign for the word), but for the most part I was able to maintain composure.
I can count really well in spanish with an Italian accent.

Oh yeah, and that language was sign language. Not some crazy telepathy, although I can't wait for that.
Two years ASL at the U of M baby!!! Just had a conversation with a homeless deaf man in Uptown the other day about the weather in Florida.
Also, two shameful and unproductive years of Spanish at Roosevelt Highschool. BUT! One very productive but awkward year speaking Spanish with the Chefs at Chino Latino (two of them love me with their corazones)..Yeah..that means hearts....
