I got a lot of good pointers from last night's music-filled rehearsal. It was a challenge for me to sing AS me. I don't like the sound of my normal voice... never have. Which is why I started doing different voices and impressions from a very young age. It's always been much EASIER for me to sing as a wild character, but that means I lose a lot of the honesty. My Drunk Jazz Singer guy was missing that one thing that was there all along... that's right... M
E.Everybody made great strides in the singing structures last night. I enjoyed watching all of you up there. I appreciate how our rehearsals really push us to get out of our heads. We play hard and big (that's what she said) in rehearsal, and it carries over to a performance night.
FYI, the first impression that I nailed (that's what she said) was Snagglepuss at age 5. "Exit... Stage Left!"

Tim. That is awesome. I remember watching an interview with Darrel Hammond from SNL and he said that the first impression he ever nailed was Porky Pig.
His father, an Air Force officer, though his young son was queerer than a three dollar bill - he just sat in his room and talked to himself in the voice of a cartoon character.
I also watched Bill Hader on Conan last night. He does some awesome impressions. My favorite was his impression of John Malkovich calling a college basketball game.
